All-Howard County: Boys track and field

Graham BazellAtholton Bazell overcame pain in his legs related to low potassium levels to have an outstanding final season before heading to Stanford. He ended his season with a bang, rallying from 20 yards back to win the Class 3A 1,600-meter run at the finish line. Bazell had won the 3,200 meter state title earlier with the best time of anyone who ran in that event at the meet. He's been one of the area's top runners throughout his high school career.

Paul UlrichMount Hebron The Vikings came on strong late in the season to win the Howard County championship meet. They then took second in the Class 2A South regional meet and placed fourth at the state meet. Ulrich works with assistants Tony Bell, David Evans and Octavia Brooks to help a deep team find success. The Vikings scored points in 15 of the 18 events in the county title meet. In addition, they often got points from more than one person in an event, a big reason they won the county championship by 81.4 points.
