In cruising to the Baltimore County cross country championship Saturday, not only did the senior win by more than 58 seconds, but she also set a course record in wet conditions.
Her time of 18 minutes, 46.5 seconds on the 3.1-mile Dulaney course broke the record of 18:46.7 set by Hereford's Kristen Malloy at the 2006 Barnhart Invitational.
On Saturday, Pillion cut 1:23 off the time she ran on the same course Sept.14 in finishing third at the Barnhart. She said she wanted to get out to a quick start and immediately broke away from the field.
The state Class 3A champ at 3,200 meters outdoors, Pillion plans to run in college. She has a 3.81 grade- point average and plans to major in one of the sciences.
