The sophomore won the state Class 2A cross country state championship, beating a pair of formidable opponents and posting the fastest time of any local runner Saturday on the hilly Hereford course.
After battling a sore hamstring that forced her to drop out of the Bull Run and the Run From the Lions' Den last month, Linde outran Mount Hebron's Becky Yep and River Hill's Katie Harman to finish in 19 minutes, 48 seconds, the third-fastest time of the day for girls.
Linde, an A-B student, won every race she finished this fall.
OTHERS CONSIDERED: Rachel Cooke, Fallston, field hockey; Amanda McCracken, Liberty, volleyball; Amy Song, River Hill, soccer; Elizabeth Tauber, John Carroll, cross country; Amanda Walters, Eastern Tech, soccer
