All-Baltimore County Football

OFFENSIVE PLAYERScott Noble, FranklinThe senior running back led the Indians to their best season since 1994, when they went to the state quarterfinals. Noble, 6 feet and 200 pounds, rushed for 1,765 yards and 29 touchdowns to lead the Indians (10-3) to the Class 3A North regional title, a berth in the state semifinals and a No. 8 ranking in The Sun's top 15.

Noble, who also starred as a linebacker, scored the game-winning touchdown in Franklin's 7-6 victory over previously unbeaten and then-No. 2-ranked City (11-1) in the regional final.

DEFENSIVE PLAYERJason Mattison, Perry HallThe senior defensive back intercepted five passes and recovered two fumbles for the Gators, whom he led to their third consecutive Baltimore County 4A-3A crown and their second straight runner-up finish in the Class 4A North region.

In big games, coach Nick Arminio said he often called upon Mattison to cover the opponents' top receiver. Mattison, also the team's quarterback, rushed for 227 yards and 12 touchdowns and passed for 1,359 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Brian Abbott, LoyolaThe fifth-year coach led Loyola to a share of its third Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference title since 1997, and its second crown during his tenure. The Dons tied a single-season school record for victories at 10-1 overall, and also won their fourth straight game against Calvert Hall -- and their 18th in the past 22 meetings -- to improve their lead to 46-33-8 in the 87-year-old Turkey Bowl series.

Abbott's offensive leader on a team with no superstars was sophomore quarterback Leon Kinnard, who rushed for 11 touchdowns and passed for 11.
