Justin Gross
McDonoghAt the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association championship meet, the versatile Gross turned in a dazzling performance, winning the 55-meter dash (7.70 seconds), long jump (21 feet, 11inches) and the triple jump (46-1). He also ran on the Eagles' third-place 1,600relay team, playing a major role in McDonogh's second-place finish overall.
The junior did even better at the Nike Nationals in Boston earlier this month. He finished third in the demanding pentathlon (60 hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump and 1,000) and also took sixth place in the long jump. Gross earned All-America honors at both events.
One of his best efforts came when he set a meet record for the triple jump at the Montgomery Invitational (47-11.75).
