Shoot to Kill: Baltimore ranks as most lethal among nation's largest cities

Boys Athlete of the Week: Roscoe Smith, Walbrook, basketball

Roscoe SmithWalbrook, basketball The junior shooting guard-small forward - who isn't so small anymore at 6feet8, 189 pounds - led No. 5 Walbrook to three straight wins last week with a combined 90 points, 18 assists, 41rebounds and 14blocked shots. Ranked No.8 nationally in the ESPN 2010 ratings, Smith is averaging 29 points, 12 rebounds and 4.5 blocks.

An honor-roll student with a 3.0 grade-point average, Smith also runs cross country, but it is on the basketball court that he excels. "He just plays," coach Kelvin Bridgers said. "He could play any of the five positions. He gets a lot of double teams, which opens up assist opportunities, and he can score. He's a great three-point shooter."

Others considered: John Davenport, Loyola, indoor track; Brian Lewis, Patterson, basketball; Leon Porter, St.Vincent Pallotti, basketball
