Boys Athlete of the Week // Josh Furman, Old Mill, football

The senior running back scored a touchdown in the final 20 seconds to lead the No. 1 Patriots to a 20-13 win in a state Class 4A football semifinal Saturday. Furman, 6 feet 3 and 202 pounds, finished with 201 yards and two touchdowns. It was the second time in two weeks he scored a critical touchdown in the final seconds, the previous week forcing the game against then-No. 1 Arundel into overtime before the Patriots won. This season, he has run for 2,272 yards - just 33 shy of the school record. He has scored 31 touchdowns. Furman said he will announce his decision to accept an offer from Michigan or Virginia Tech after he plays in the Maryland Crab Bowl on Dec. 19.

Others considered: Zach Burkhardt, Eastern Tech, football; Patrick Fitzgerald, Calvert Hall, football; Dominic Harper, Joppatowne, football
