Player of the Year
Caroline Jacobs, BroadneckThe senior hitter lead the Bruins to their second consecutive Class 4A state championship and was an imposing force at the net. Jacobs contributed 153 kills, 44blocks, 63 digs and 46 aces. She averaged 2.89 kills during the regular season but upped that in the state playoffs to 3.30. Her best match in the state playoffs was against Eleanor Roosevelt in the semifinals, where she posted 11 kills in a three-game sweep of the Raiders.
Coach of the Year
Ashley Lindsay, ArundelLindsay guided the Wildcats to a 12-4 record and almost led them to one of the most surprising upsets in the state this season. With a trip to the county championship on the line, the Wildcats pushed Severna Park to a fifth game before falling, 16-14. Lindsay led the Falcons to a 10-6 record last season, and the improvement was evident. The Wildcats lost only to Broadneck (twice), Severna Park and Old Mill, all of whom were ranked.
