Player of the Year
Brooke Griffin, South RiverA dynamo all over the field, Griffin sparked the No. 6 Seahawks' offense from beginning to end. The midfield playmaker set up a lot of scoring opportunities - many of them with her 24 assists. She also scored 15 goals and led the Seahawks in points. Fast, quick and tenacious, Griffin was a leader at both ends of the field. Consistently strong throughout her junior season, she had one of her best games in the regional semifinals, scoring both goals in a 4-2 loss to No. 1 Severna Park.
Coach of the Year
Lil Shelton, Severna ParkWhen she started the team in 1975, Shelton quickly turned the Falcons into the most successful program in the state. This season, they were young but came together quickly and went 19-1, finishing No. 1 with their 18th state championship. Shelton, 496-54-9 in 34years, credited her players with the season's success. Their only loss came to Broadneck in the Anne Arundel county title game, but they avenged that in the regional final and went on to outscore their two state tournament foes, 10-0.
