Brooke Griffin
South River
A dominating player in the midfield, the junior excelled in all facets of the game. She could force a turnover one minute and score a big goal on the attacking end the next. Speedy, skilled and quick around the crease, she was a constant threat on the attack, scoring 66 goals and dishing out 27 assists. Perhaps her best asset was her ability to win the draws - 96 this season - often giving the Seahawks a considerable edge in possession time. She also had 41 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. She has orally committed to Maryland.

Carin Peterson
Severna Park
The No. 4 Falcons started off the season with four big injuries and they stumbled a bit through midseason with three losses, but Peterson made the key move that drove them to their third straight Class 4A-3A state championship. When midfielder Sarah Lloyd returned from a leg injury but couldn't run much, Peterson put her in the goal and she excelled. Peterson also brought along players to fill the other holes. This state title was Peterson's ninth since she guided the Falcons to the first championship in state tournament history in 1990.
