1. McDonogh

Last season: ranked No. 1

Postseason: Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland champions

Outlook: The Eagles will once again score points all over the place, thanks in part to their depth. They will again be tough to beat, especially in smaller meets.

2. Milford Mill

Last season: ranked No. 4

Postseason: third in Class 3A

Outlook: The Millers just missed winning an indoor title, falling one-half point short of the Class 3A championship. They're very strong in sprints and relays, thanks to Toni Brown and others.

3. South River

Last season: not ranked

Postseason: 31st in Class 4A

Outlook: The Seahawks are vastly improved and won the Class 4A state title indoors. The biggest question will be how well their depth holds up in the bigger outdoor meets.

4. Hereford

Last season: ranked No. 8

Postseason: Class 3A finalist

Outlook: The Bulls dropped down to Class 2A, and this spring's team is both young and talented across the board. They struggled at the indoor state championship meet, but could rebound outdoors.

5. Severna Park

Last season: not ranked

Postseason: 14th in Class 4A

Outlook: The Falcons are always tough in distance. More points in other places will help in the difficult Class 4A.
