Girls Athlete of the Week (Oct. 23, 2013): Isabel Griffith, Dulaney, cross country

The senior captured her second straight Baltimore County championship on her home course Saturday, coming across in 18 minutes, 47 seconds for an 18-second win over second-place finisher Sarah Coffey of Hereford. Her effort led the Lions to a second-place finish behind then-No. 3 Hereford. Last season, Griffith earned All-Metro first-team honors after finishing fourth in the Class 4A state meet. She was the area's top finisher in the race. As a junior, Griffith also had fine seasons in indoor and outdoor track. She was an All-Metro second-team selection in indoor track and a first-team pick outdoors.
