Performer of the Year
Kristen Brown, McDonogh
The junior's versatility and talent virtually guaranteed the Eagles 35 to 40 points in each meet. . She can run relays, do sprints, help in field events. At the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland title meet, Brown won the long jump, 100-meter hurdles (setting a meet record) and ran on two winning relay teams. The combination of Brown and senior Amanda Kimbers gave the Eagles a 1-2 combination that no team could overcome.
Coach of the Year
Jeff Sanborn, McDonogh
The long-time Eagles coach did a fine job this year of putting the right people in the right places with one of the most talented teams the area has ever seen. Sanborn and his staff had a dizzying number of options, and he made sure top-ranked McDonogh got points from everywhere. It's why the won a sixth straight outdoor IAAM title. They won that meet by an astonishing 178 points.
