All-Baltimore County: Girls lacrosse

Player of the Year: Erin Laschinger, Notre Dame Prep

The senior midfielder never advertised how good she was with a big stick or a flashy move. Instead, she excelled at all the little things, and that added up to one big season. Not only did she score 66 goals and contribute 17 assists while drawing a lot of defensive attention, she made the entire midfield game look easy. Her skills were exceptional, and no chore was beneath her. Laschinger, who is headed to Virginia, played defense as well as she played attack, and she mopped up loose balls and missed coverage in the midfield.

Coach of the Year: Marianne Pizzo, Maryvale

In her third season with the Lions, Pizzo, who played at St. Mary's and Loyola, has brought the coaching consistency needed to rejuvenate a program that had fallen off the pace since winning the IAAM A Conference crown in 2002. With only four seniors on the roster, the No. 13 Lions broke into the Top 15 and gave the top A Conference teams fits with their ability to score tons of goals -- 16 per game. Pizzo credits her assistant coaches, Kelly Mulford and Lauren Pyke, Maryvale graduates, with powering up the offense.
