The Baltimore Sun takes Athletes of the Week nominations from Friday night until Sunday at 6 p.m. Coaches may call 410-332-6801 to nominate athletes. Emily Soller, John Carroll, basketball
(Feb. 22, 2012) The senior forward came back after being sidelined for five games with a concussion to lead the No. 11 Patriots to the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference girls basketball championship. She had 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in the 42-38 title-game victory over St. Mary's on Saturday. Soller also had 23 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in the 54-45 quarterfinal win over Mount de Sales. In the 51-36 semifinal win over Bryn Mawr, she had nine points, nine rebounds and three blocks while playing only about seven minutes. Averaging 15.1 points and 9.2 rebounds, she is considering playing at Chestnut Hill (Pa.), Frostburg or Stevenson next season. Soller, who has a 3.0 GPA, also played on the Patriots' B Conference champion volleyball team and is the starting shortstop for the softball team.
