Boys Athlete of the Week (Sept. 11, 2013): Marcus Hicks, Old Mill, football

An All-Metro safety last season, Hicks makes his presence known on offense and special teams, too. In the comeback season-opening 35-21 win over Broadneck, he rallied the No. 4 Patriots with four touchdowns. The Bruins led, 14-0, but Hicks swung the momentum by stripping the ball from the Bruins' punt returner and running it in for a touchdown. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound senior also rushed for touchdowns of 1, 3 and 23 yards. He finished with 20 carries for 149 yards and also had five tackles. A sprinter on the track team, Hicks has a 3.0 GPA and has football scholarship offers from Fordham and Campbell, as well as interest from Towson, Army, James Madison and Miami (Ohio), among others.
