At UMass, Harris gets the point
Ricky Harris came to then-coach Mark Amatucci's Calvert Hall basketball program as a relatively small kid, utterly unprepared for physical and mental battles to be fought on a high school court -- much less a college one. But taking the lessons learned during his high school career, Harris has turned himself into the University of Massachusetts' floor leader and is looking at a possible pro career.

Josh Banks can throw five pitches: a fastball, a curve, a changeup, a split-fingered fastball and a cutter. That repertoire made him a star at Severna Park, got him a scholarship to Florida International and enticed the Toronto Blue Jays to draft him in the second round in 2003, when he was a junior.

Southern's Dayna Scott is still big on assists
In 1985, Dayna Scott closed out her high school basketball career at Southern High in Harwood with 2,064 points and also led the Bulldogs in assists. Since then, assisting others has been a way of life for the Annapolis resident.
