Girls Athlete of the Week (March 11, 2014): Danielle Edwards, McDonogh, basketball( Kenneth K. Lam, The Baltimore Sun / March 13, 2013 )
The All-Metro point guard led the No. 1 Eagles to the championship of the Bishop Walsh Girls Invitational Tournament in Cumberland last weekend. Edwards, a junior, had 32 points, 18 steals and 16 assists in wins over St. Maria Goretti (69-30), Elizabeth Seton (51-39) and Good Counsel (39-37). She was named to the All-Tournament team. Edwards, who scored her 1,000th career point in McDonogh's Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship game victory, averaged 14.5 points, six steals and five assists as the Eagles finished 29-2. She has a 3.4 GPA and has committed to play at Clemson.
