Girls Athlete of the Week (Oct. 9, 2013): Sarah Rinehart, Liberty, cross country( Jerry Jackson, Baltimore Sun / May 30, 2013 )
The Lions' top runner won North Harford's Gunpowder Falls Invitiational on Saturday, coming across in 19 minutes, 24.2 seconds to lead Liberty to a fifth-place finish in the 18-team field. Rinehart, a junior, won the race by more than 43 seconds ahead of runner-up finisher Julia Nardone of Glenelg. On Oct. 1, Rinehart finished second at Liberty's Crossfire Invitational. In early September, she opened the season with an impressive win at the Brunswick Invitational, finishing in 19:05 to break the course record by 20 seconds. Last year, Rinehart earned All-Metro second-team honors in cross country and indoor track, and then was a first-team selection in outdoor track after winning the Class 2A state title in the 1600 meters.
