The Baltimore Sun takes Athletes of the Week nominations from Friday night until Sunday at 6 p.m. Please provide name, school, class, sport, position, team results and the athlete's accomplishments for the week, with statistics by game, and other supporting information. Boys Athlete of the Week (April 9, 2014): Scott Beautz, Catonsville, baseball( Handout / April 8, 2014 )
The senior catcher, a three-year starter, batted .625 with three home runs and six RBIs in three games as the Comets went 2-1 for the week. In a 4-3, nine-inning win over Hereford on April 1, Beautz went 2-for-2 and walked twice, hitting two homers with three RBIs and two runs scored. He also threw out a baserunner. After going 1-for-3 with a walk in a 5-2 loss to Eastern Tech last Thursday, Beautz led the Comets to an 8-3 win over Dulaney on Friday by going 2-for-3 with a homer, double, three RBIs and a run scored. He's batting .600 with a 1.600 slugging percentage this season and will attend LSU on an academic scholarship with plans to study petroleum engineering.
