Girls Athlete of the Week (April 1, 2014): Gabby Henson, Broadneck, softball( Handout / March 31, 2014 )
The senior catcher batted .769 with nine RBIs and threw out three runners attempting to steal second base in four Anne Arundel County league victories last week. Henson was 10-for-13 with four doubles and a home run in wins over Severna Park (16-14), Annapolis (16-0), Arundel (7-5) and South River (8-0). Her slugging percentage for the week was 1.307 and she had a .833 on-base percentage. Against Severna Park, she was 3-for-3 with a double, a three-run home run and four RBIs as the No. 14 Bruins (4-1) rallied from an 8-0 deficit after two innings. A veteran of the Wagner's/Maryland Magic program, Henson has a 4.25 GPA and has signed to play for Lock Haven.
