Boys Athlete of the Week (Sept. 25, 2013): Ryan Forsyth, Severna Park, cross country( Gene Sweeney Jr., Baltimore Sun / December 4, 2012 )
The senior broke his second course record in two weeks, winning the boys elite race at the Spiked Shoe Invitational and leading the No. 1 Falcons to the team title Saturday at Wyman Park. Forsyth ran the 5K in 16 minutes, 42 seconds to break the record by nearly 30 seconds against a field that included the Baltimore-area's top public and private school runners. He also broke the course record at the White Clay Creek Classic in Newark, Del., on Sept. 13. Forsyth, who also runs track, earned All-Metro first-team honors after finishing second at the Class 4A state championship meet last fall as the Falcons won their first cross country state title. He has a 4.15 weighted GPA and is considering such college programs as Purdue, Illinois, Virginia and Penn State.
