Boys Athlete of the Week (Dec. 31, 2013): Omari George, City, basketball( December 31, 2013 )
The senior guard/forward led the Knights to two wins at the Governor's Challenge Basketball Tournament at Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury last weekend, earning 8-0 City their spot atop The Baltimore Sun's boys basketball poll. In Friday's 74-58 win over Oakdale, George finished with 22 points and eight rebounds. On Saturday, he followed with a 27-point, 11-rebound effort in a 73-63 win against Cape Henlopen (Del.). George, a three-year starter, is averaging 18.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Last season, he averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds, earning All-Metro second-team honors.
