Boys Athlete of the Week (Dec. 4): Jacquez Adams, Franklin, football
The junior quarterback completed 17 of 20 passes for 337 yards and six touchdowns without an interception to lead the No. 9 Indians (11-2) to a 49-7 win at Huntingtown in the Class 3A state semifinals Friday night. Adams threw for 282 yards in the first half and finished off his evening with a 55-yard touchdown pass to John Jones as the Indians completed the scoring 11 seconds into the second half. In that game, Adams, 5-feet-11, 160 pounds, set single-season school records with 2,700 yards passing and 28 touchdown passes Averaging 207.7 passing yards per game, he has a 65.5 percent completion rate and has thrown 12 interceptions. He's also run for 829 yards and 14 touchdowns. Adams and the Indians will play for the Class 3A football title Thursday night at 7 p.m. at M&T Bank Stadium.
