Bills executive subpoenaed in Lynch investigation
A law enforcement official familiar with the case says Buffalo Bills chief operating officer Russ Brandon has been subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury looking into a hit-and-run accident involving running back Marshawn Lynch's sport utility vehicle.
The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information, told the Associated Press that Brandon was served the subpoena late Thursday night.
Brandon is the latest member of the team summoned to the grand jury, which is scheduled to convene Friday to investigate the May 31 accident, in which Lynch's 2008 Porsche Cayenne sped off after hitting and injuring a female pedestrian.
Three Bills players and a high-ranking member of the Bills' security staff were subpoenaed earlier Thursday.
• Henry // Former Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has been suspended by the NFL pending the outcome of his trial this month, his agent said. The Bengals released Henry on April 3 after he was arrested for the fifth time. Henry is scheduled for trial June 24 in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court on charges of assault and criminal damaging. A man accused Henry of punching him in the face and breaking his car window with a beer bottle. Henry had received permission from the judge to try out with other NFL teams. Commissioner Roger Goodell has blocked him from doing so until his case is heard, agent Marvin Frazier said. If Henry is convicted, he faces at least a one-season suspension under the league's conduct policy. Henry was suspended for the first eight games last season for violating the policy, his second suspension from the league during his three-year career. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
• Titans // Wide receiver Brandon Jones faces a misdemeanor charge for unlawful possession of a handgun after trying to carry the weapon through a security checkpoint in his bag at Nashville (Tenn.) International Airport. Jones was released and caught his flight to Phoenix. He issued a statement through his agent, apologizing to the team and his family for any embarrassment the incident caused them.
• Redskins // Washington signed fourth-round draft pick Justin Tryon. Tryon, a cornerback, finished with 103 tackles and four interceptions in 26 games at Arizona State. He also returned 12 kickoffs for a 31-yard average in college. The Redskins also released safety Patrick Ghee.
• Vick // Former Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick was arrested in Norfolk, Va., and charged with driving under the influence and eluding police. Vick, the brother of suspended Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, signed as a free-agent wide receiver with the Dolphins after a troubled career at Virginia Tech. He was released by the Dolphins in 2007.
