The two pavilions on the waterfront and the four-story mall across Pratt Street are paragons of the Baltimore shopping community -- but shopping isn't all there is to it. You can also grab a quick lunch or a classy dinner, or just hang out and watch street performers or the huge crowds of passers-by.
Starting in The Gallery, you can check out all the typical mall retailers: J. Crew, Johnston and Murphy, Banana Republic, Gap, Coach, etc. in an upscale setting. There is something for everyone here, from men's and women's apparel to children's clothing. The food court on the fourth floor packs typical mall fare, and a third-floor skywalk connects The Gallery with the Pratt Street Pavilion.
If the gallery is an upscale mall, with a lot of big-name chains, the pavilions are its opposite. The Pratt Street Pavilion is full of specialty shops, from Yankee Candle to the very Baltimore "Who You Callin' A Crab." Where The Gallery has a typical food court, the Pratt Street Pavilion plays host to a smattering of restaurants including the Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, La Tasca, Tir Na Nog Restaurant and Irish Bar and Edo Sushi.
Adjacent to the Pratt Street Pavilion is the Light Street Pavilion, which has some stores but mostly food, food, food. The center of the second floor is an enormous food court where you can find pizza, thai and everything in between. This pavilion is home to locally legendary seafood restaurant Phillips, Capitol City Brewing Company, Hooters and more. You can even pick up fudge from the singing employees at The Fudgery.
Parking for Harborplace can, and often will be, a pain. Try to find a metered spot or head to one of the parking garages along Pratt and Light streets -- either way, be prepared to pay to park. If it's a nice day or even a nice night, you're probably not the only person who had the idea to head downtown, so be patient with parking -- or save yourself the trouble and take a cab.
