NFC EAST

Dallas Cowboys

Off-season newsmakers: The waiving of Terrell Owens overshadowed the release of S Roy Williams and exit of former U.Va. DE Chris Canty.

Needs: S and WR.

The buzz: Jerry Jones needs to find some young prospects to replace Owens and Williams. Not having a first- or third-round pick will make things tough for the Cowboys.

New York Giants

Offseason newsmakers: WR Plaxico Burress was joined on the waiver wire by DBs Sammy Knight and Sam Madison, while the Giants also took a backfield hit in losing Derrick Ward, but did sign RB Brandon Jacobs to a fat extension.

Needs: WR and LB.

The buzz: The Giants need an elite receiver to replace Burress and take pressure off Manning.

Philadelphia Eagles

Offseason newsmakers: Popular S Brian Dawkins was cut and the team also let OT Tra Thomas and TE L.J. Smith go.

Needs: TE and DE.

The buzz: Bringing in OTs Stacy Andrews and Jason Peters solved Philly's aging offensive tackle issues. Now, the Eagles can focus on getting a TE for Donovan McNabb to replace the departed Smith and a pass-rusher to help out defensive boss Jim Johnson, who takes over for Monte Kiffin as the dean of NFL DCs.

Washington Redskins

Offseason newsmakers: DT Albert Haynesworth and his $100 million contract was a huge deal. The Skins also re-signed former Virginia Tech CB DeAngelo Hall and brought back OG Derrick Dockery. DE Jason Taylor, for whom the Redskins wasted a second-round pick to acquire, was cut.

Needs: OT and DL.

The buzz: The Redskins are old on the offensive line and thin on the DL.
