Old Dominion will host a second-round CollegeInsider.com tournament game Sunday at Norfolk Scope at 3 p.m., against an undisclosed opponent.
The Monarchs are unable to play at the Constant Center, due to the NCAA women's tournament this weekend. Scope was available because the building's primary winter tenants, hockey's Norfolk Admirals, are out of town this weekend.
ODU last played at Scope on Nov. 24, 2001, a 55-46 win against Virginia Tech in coach Blaine Taylor's first game.
The Monarchs (21-13) won their first-round CIT game Tuesday, 68-66 over Coastal Carolina. CIT officials decide matchups based on the results of each preceding round.
First-round games will be held Wednesday and Thursday nights also, though tournament officials try to match teams geographically. Among ODU's possible opponents are American and USC-Upstate.
As with its first-round game, ODU is required to pay a $30,000 guarantee to host. Adding rental cost for Scope, athletic director Wood Selig said they need to sell approximately 4,000 tickets in order to break even. They fell short of their target Tuesday, with an announced attendance of 2,246.
General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for ODU faculty/staff, military and youth 17-and-under. ODU students will be admitted free with an I.D.
