Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, John Isner and more top men's tennis stars coming to Chicago

Seven of the world’s top 10 men’s tennis players will compete in Chicago next week, and the public gets a chance to see them Sept. 19.

The Laver Cup Player Welcome will take place around noon at Millennium Park, with an opening at 11 a.m. Tennis legend Rod Laver will join team captains John McEnroe (Team World) and Bjorn Borg (Team Europe) to introduce the 12 players that will compete next weekend at the United Center.

Among them: Roger Federer (ranked 2nd), reigning U.S. Open champion Novak Djokovic (3), Juan Martin del Potro (4), Alexander Zverev (5), Grigor Dimitrov (7), Illinois alumnus Kevin Anderson (9) and John Isner (10).

Top players will address fans and hit autographed tennis balls into the crowd. Celebrities and entertainment acts are also expected at Millennium Park.

The Laver Cup is tennis’ answer to golf’s Ryder Cup. The three-day event debuted last year in Prague.
