If anyone knows how intense and personally bizarre the memorabilia craze can be, it's Blackhawks players. Especially after winning two Stanley Cups in four seasons. Although they may be used to being asked to sign their sweaters and equipment by now, sometimes they are caught off guard by eerie requests.
RedEye caught up with several players (and one team legend) at the Blackhawks Convention this weekend and asked about the weirdest thing they've autographed.
"Maybe a jock. Someone's asked for a jock before. It was awkward; I didn't get around to it."
"A couple odd body parts here and there, that's kind of funny."
"I've signed a few things … but I don't know if I'm allowed to speak on camera here [smiles]. But that was probably after the last Stanley Cup. There's some crazy fans out there, but it was fun, you know. It was good times."
"I actually donated the stitches out of my face to a charity. But it's nice, it goes to a good cause. It's not like I'm going to frame them myself or anything."
"I guess it's for a good cause, but it's usually for breast cancer that the bras always catch me off guard a little bit, till you realize what it's for. But other than that I can't really think of anything too out there."
"Undergarments I guess. Strange stuff like that, or parts of the anatomy. Those were weird. Of course I didn't do it. [Smiles.]"
