The history-making Northwestern women’s lacrosse team will add a new chapter next spring when it plays the first lacrosse game at Wrigley Field.
The Wildcats, winners of seven of the last nine NCAA titles, will meet USC April 26 at 7 p.m.
Former Northwestern All-America Lindsey Munday is the USC coach.
It will be Northwestern’s final regular-season game of 2014. Tickets will be priced at $10 and go on sale Thursday.
While making the formal announcement Monday morning, Wildcats coach Kelly Amonte Hiller said the first opponent under consideration for a Wrigley Field game had been Notre Dame but the Irish move to the Atlantic Coast Conference made it impossible to work out a date.
In the past three seasons, the Northwestern women played in the first lacrosse games at Cowboys Stadium and the L.A. Coliseum and were part of the first women’s collegiate event -- a lacrosse doubleheader -- at the Patriots’ Gillette Stadium.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
