Three Sea Gulls each scored three goals or more to help host Salisbury rout Augustana, 16-3, in the third round of the Division III tournament.
The Vikings (19-1) did not score over the first 36 minutes as the Sea Gulls (20-1) took a 14-0 lead.
Salisbury scored 12 goals on 19 shots in the first half, including three from attacker Shelby Nemecek (Liberty) in a span of less than two minutes.
Attacker Shelby Nemecek (Liberty) and attacker Kate Haker (Westminster) each finished with five points on four goals and an assist during the run, and Bethany Baer had a hat trick, and Salisbury goalkeeper Ashton Wheatley made four saves and allowed one goal in the first 48:06.
Salisbury hosts Franklin & Marshall today in a quarterfinal.
No. 2 seed Syracuse 11, No. 7 Boston College 9: The Orange rallied from a 3-0 deficit to double the Eagles' score and hold on for the win in a Division I quarterfinal matchup.
The victory gives Syracuse (20-2) its first 20-win season and its third straight semifinal appearance, against Virginia on Friday. Boston College (15-6) held the Orange scoreless for the first 16 minutes, but then Syracuse went on an 8-1 run.
No. 6 seed Virginia 10, No. 3 North Carolina 9: The Tar Heels (15-5) dominated the first half and led 8-4 in the second, but the visiting Cavaliers (12-8) surged back with a 6-0 run.
Tar Heels attackers Carly Reed and Abbey Friend each had a game-high three goals.
Five players each scored twice for Virginia, and attacker Casey Bocklet led all players with five points on two goals and three assists.
North Carolina won eight of 12 draw controls and outshot the Cavaliers by 14-7 before the break, but Virginia took six of nine draw controls in the last 30 minutes. The Cavaliers will play Syracuse in the Division I semifinal round.
No. 5 seed Northwestern 12, No. 4 Florida 11, OT: Wildcats midfielder Kat DeRonda scored with 4:51 left in regulation against the Gators (18-3), then put in the game-winner to send visiting Northwestern (14-6) to a Division I semifinal matchup against Maryland at Towson.
The lead changed six times before the Wildcats (14-6) forced overtime.
Northwestern led 5-4 at the half after Kara Mupo scored the last goal of a 4-0 run, but the Gators (18-3), led by midfielder Shannon Gilroy with three goals, responded with a four-goal spurt of their own to lead 8-5 before the Wildcats fought their way to a tie.
Florida outshot the Northwestern 16-9 in the second half after matching the Wildcats with 8 before halftime.
Franklin & Marshall 9, SUNY Geneseo 8: Diplomats attacker Grace Saliba scored with eight seconds left to give Franklin & Marshall (17-5) the win over the Knights (17-3) in the Division III third round.
The Diplomats will play Salisbury today in the quarterfinals.
