Madison Cyr (Winters Mill) scored the go-ahead goal on an assist from Jenna Mosketti (Fallston) with 10:20 left as host No. 16 Penn State beat No. 5 Johns Hopkins, 12-10, in women's lacrosse Friday night.
Mosketti gave the Nittany Lions (9-6, 3-3 American Lacrosse Conference) an 11-9 lead with 1:04 left before the teams traded goals in the final 39 seconds.
The Blue Jays (12-3, 2-3), led by Taylor D'Amore with four goals, scored the game's first three goals and led 7-4 at halftime. Cyr spearheaded the second-half rally, scoring three of her four goals during a 5-0 run.
Wagner 15, Mount St. Mary's 6: The visiting Mount (2-12, 1-4 Northeast Conference) held a 4-3 lead over the host Seahawks (8-6, 4-1) 20 minutes into the game, but Wagner scored the next seven goals to pull away.
Hannah Gutcher (Mount de Sales) led Mount St. Mary's with three goals. Wagner secured its first conference playoff berth in nine years.
No. 7 North Carolina 12, High Point 8: Chad Tutton had four goals and the Tar Heels (10-3) broke a 1-all tie with a 6-2 run in the second quarter of their regular-season finale.
The Panthers fell to 8-5.
No. 11 Army 8, Colgate 6: John Glesener got his 13th career hat trick and the Black Knights (9-3, 7-1 Patriot League) won their fifth straight game, beating the host Raiders (8-5, 4-4).
No. 9 Stanford 15, San Diego State 10: The visiting Cardinal (12-2, 6-1 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) used a 10-0 run that spanned both halves to beat the Aztecs (6-8, 3-4) for its fourth straight win.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
