•Notre Dame attackman Nick Beattie is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a knee injury, the school confirmed. Beattie is one of Notre Dame's main offensive threats, and his absence will be a major blow to the defensive-minded team's scoring output.
He did not play in the 4-3 loss to Penn State last weekend. Beattie is a senior captain for the Irish. Notre Dame visits Drexel on Saturday.
Drexel attackman Nick Trizano is still considered day-to-day after suffering an injury in a loss to Virginia two weeks ago. He did not play in Tuesday's loss against Villanova, but the school said he is still expected to make a full recovery.
Penn State will likely be without midfielder Kyle VanThof for Saturday's game against Ohio State. The junior injured his knee in the Nittany Lions' upset of Notre Dame and he did not return in that game. The school said he is doubtful for this weekend. The Lions have been rotating star attackman Matthew Mackrides between attack and midfield.
Expect Syracuse to continue rotating its goalies. The Orange switched between redshirt sophomore Matthew Lerman and sophomore Dominic Lamolinara (St. Mary's) in its 10-9 win against Army on Sunday. Syracuse coaches have said a rotation will continue until one goalie emerges as the clear No. 1. Lamolinara and Lerman were both at times shaky against the Black Knights. Lamolinara, who came in for the second half, made a game-saving stop in the final seconds.
Gilman class of 2014 defenseman Brendan Barger has orally committed to Ohio State. Barger has participated in Crab Feast, Summer Exposure, National Scholastic Club Lacrosse Association, Bison Brawl, Champ Camp and UPLax, and he is a member of the Baltimore Crabs. He strongly considered Bucknell, Loyola, Maryland, North Carolina and Penn State.
Calvert Hall defenseman Erik Evans has also orally committed to Ohio State. He stands at 6 feet 4, 205 pounds and is a member of the Baltimore Crabs. He also plays varsity football and basketball for the Cardinals. Evans has attended Summer Exposure, Crab Feast, NSCLA and Blue Chip camps. He strongly considered Maryland, North Carolina and Notre Dame.
Liam Anderson, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound attackman from St. Paul's, has verbally committed to Georgetown. He is in the class of 2014. Anderson also plays volleyball and basketball for the Crusaders. He has attended Top 205, Philly Showcase, UNC Select, Baltimore Summer Kickoff, Tri-State and Brine Shootout camps. Anderson strongly considered Penn and Princeton.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
