North Carolina men (10-4) @ No. 5 seed Denver (14-2)
Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Outlook: For the third consecutive postseason, the Tar Heels and Pioneers will meet in the NCAA tournament. Two years ago, Denver prevailed, 16-14, in Chapel Hill, N.C., in the first round, and last May, the Pioneers overcame a six-goal deficit for a 12-11 win in a quarterfinal. This matchup is the only first-round game involving teams with offenses and defenses both ranked in the top 10. Both offenses are led by junior attackmen, with Joey Sankey pacing North Carolina with 55 points and Wesley Berg powering Denver with 58 points. The key will be whether Tar Heels sophomore goalkeeper Kieran Burke (8.43 goals-against average and .559 save percentage) can outduel the Pioneers' 1-2 punch of senior Jamie Faus (7.93 goals-against average and .552 save percentage) and junior Ryan LaPlante (8.79 goals-against average and .575 save percentage).

Outlook: The Blue Jays are back in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2007. Ranked No. 7 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll, they will try to avenge their 11-10 overtime loss to Georgetown earlier this year. Senior attacker Taylor D'Amore, Hopkins' all-time career assists leader with 155, leads Division I in points per game with 5.21.
