Hofstra tops Towson, 13-8

No. 19 Towson trailed by one before giving up eight straight goals in the second half to No. 20 Hofstra as the host Pride won, 13-8, at Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y., last night.
Anthony Muscarella led Hofstra (3-2, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association) with a career-high five goals. Bill McCutcheon had a hat trick for the Tigers (1-4, 0-1), who have lost three of the past four meetings with the Pride.
Tim Stratton gave Towson a 3-2 lead with 10:55 left in the first half, before Muscarella rattled off three straight goals and Hofstra took the lead for good.
• Wesley 11, Hood 3 // Dan Skeels scored four goals as the host Wolverines (6-3, 3-2 Capital) beat the Blazers (0-10, 0-6).
Women
• Frostburg State 16, Greensboro 14 // Lindsay Lamont (Century) and Elisabeth Hildebrand each scored five goals to power the Bobcats (4-3), who trailed four times before Carly Rihard (North Carroll) scored twice for a 13-11 advantage with 11:23 left. Christina Denney tied the game for the Pride (3-7) with two consecutive goals with 9:07 left. Frostburg State answered with back-to-back scores with three minutes left and traded goals in the final minute.
• Connecticut College 15, Goucher 13 // Emily Blatter had a game-high eight goals in a loss for the visiting Gophers (1-5).
• Mary Washington 20, Hood 2 // Sarah Balukoff and Kelsey Blackwell scored unassisted goals for the host Blazers (0-8, 0-5 Capital Athletic Conference) in the loss. The Eagles (5-3, 3-0) held Hood scoreless in the first half, 12-0.
