The news and social media website Mashable has pulled together its top 50 stunning sports photos of the year from Getty Images' Year in Focus archives, and Mount St. Joseph and Washington College grad Stephen Berger is No. 3 on the list.

Berger, a midfielder who began the season with the New York Lizards, is shown yelling his way through two rows of kids and high-fiving them during player introductions before a May 31 game at Hofstra. It might've been the highlight of that night for Berger, who didn't have any points and took only one shot on goal in a 14-12 loss to the Charlotte Hounds.

He would later be dealt to the Boston Cannons before the July trade deadline. Berger played in 14 games last season and finished with 17 goals and nine assists.

When he's not playing, Berger works as men's game director for Baltimore-based US Lacrosse.
