Notebook: Rising sophomore Odom commits to Johns Hopkins

Rising sophomore midfielder Lane Odomof Haverford School in Havertown, Pa., has orally committed to play lacrosse at Johns Hopkins, according to PhillyLacrosse.com. 

Odom plays club for Mesa Fresh, attending Good to Great Showcase, Rider MVP, Lava Lax and Nike Blue Chip camps. He also considered Michigan, Ohio State, Georgetown and Princeton. 

Other commitments

  • Rising junior St. Paul's attackman Liam Anderson, a former Georgetown recruit, has orally committed to Colgate. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Anderson plays club for the Baltimore Breakers, attending Baltimore Summer Kickoff, Crab City Challenge, Brine Shootout, Summer Sizzle and King of the Hill, where he was an All-Star. 
  • Rising senior South Carroll defenseman Chad Slifer has orally committed to Mercer. An All-Star at King of the Hill with the Breakers, he also attended Summer Sizzle, Crab City Challenge, Brine National Lacrosse Classic and Baltimore Summer Kickoff. Slifer was also a highly sought-after Football Championship Subdivision recruit as a linebacker and fullback.

Local women's players named to IWLCA honor roll

The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association named 171 players to the Division I academic honor roll, including Johns Hopkins’ Sammi Arbitman, Katie Duffey, Alyson Friedensohn and Sophia Sherry; Loyola’s Kellye Gallagher and Ana Heneberry; Maryland’s Katie Schwarzmann and Bria Phillips; Mount St. Mary’s Meg Conlon and Kaitlyn Larrimore; and Navy’s Kathy Young and Emily Mellin.

The 246 Division III honorees included Goucher’s Mary Lambert and Andi Lipson; McDaniel’s Chelsea Watkins, Stephanie Nichols, Paige Messersmith and Kerry Campbell; Notre Dame of Maryland’s Kelsey Kempf, Rachel Jones and Lauren McCusker; St. Mary’s Kimmy Routson, Amelia Tenberg and Lauriann Parker; Salisbury’s Carrie Bray and Anna Sparr; and Stevenson’s Alli Novak and Stephanie Hilton.
