Don’t miss the ultimate foodie event, The Baltimore Sun's Secret Supper

Siena's Brendan Meehan, Johns Hopkins' Rob Guida

E is for early start — The season used to begin in March. But zealous coaches have pushed openers to early February, creating the risk of frostbite for fans. This weekend features dozens of games, headlined by Denver at Duke, Air Force at North Carolina, Siena at Johns Hopkins, Colgate at Bryant and Army at Massachusetts. We'll have to wait an extra day to see Tewaaraton Award candidates Will Manny (UMass), Peter Baum (Colgate) and Garrett Thul (Army) in regular-season action. The threat of what is being called a potentially "historic blizzard" in the Northeast has caused games to be postponed this weekend. UMass' opener against Army, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been moved to Sunday at noon. Bryant's opener against visiting Colgate has also been pushed to Sunday (1 p.m.) from Saturday.
