Teddy Greenstein's college football picks

NU coach Pat Fitzgerald talks about Minnesota and freshman cornerback Matthew Harris after practice Wednesday.

What do I get for backing the little guy? Lots of L's.

Last week I thought Indiana would score enough at Michigan State to keep it close. (Not quite.) I figured Northwestern and Purdue would show up against Wisconsin and Nebraska. (No way.) The only thing that saved me from a Big Ten blanking was Michigan's Brendan Gibbons, who pushed a 33-yarder in triple overtime at Penn State. He's my new favorite kicker.

Onward.

Minnesota (plus 12) at Northwestern: If you see Pat Fitzgerald before Saturday's game, don't ask if his team was "flat" at Wisconsin. Touchy subject. Northwestern.

Purdue (plus 271/2 ) at Michigan State: A giant spread considering the Spartans offense was a joke in September. But this is October. Michigan State.

Iowa (plus 17) at Ohio State: The Buckeyes are rested. And, if you didn't already know, hyper-fast on offense. Ohio State.

Indiana (plus 91/2) at Michigan: Indiana beat Penn State and Penn State beat Michigan, so … who knows? Take the points. Indiana.

Wisconsin (minus 14) at Illinois: Jared Abbrederis (concussion) expects to play, so I expect the Badgers to win big. Wisconsin.

Florida State (minus 3) at Clemson: Call me crazy, but I'll take the road favorite with the redshirt freshman QB. Because I think Jameis Winston is that good. Florida State.

Best bet: Ohio State.

Last week: 2-4. Season: 29-35.

Best bets: 3-4.
