The school confirmed Monday night Mahone was no longer enrolled at the school. Following his arrest, Mahone was indefinitely suspended from football activities.
Mahone's lawyer, James Gentile, told the South Bend Tribune that Mahone would like to return to Notre Dame but the school has told him he can not attend as long as felony charges are pending against him.
Mahone, whom police allege was "highly intoxicated" at the time of the incident on June 14, faces three felonies for assault of a police officer, intimidation of a public servant/party official and vandalism of a government entity.
Mahone did not see much action at Notre Dame in part because of injuries and had surgery in March to repair a fractured right foot.
