Florida State and Alabama remained in the top two spots in the Associated Press Top 25 poll released Tuesday.
Defending national champion Florida State beat Oklahoma State in the Cowboys Classic at AT&T Stadium despite some uneasy moments in the second half. Alabama also won in a neutral-site game, downing West Virginia 33-23 at Atlanta.
The Seminoles received 46 first-place votes, with Alabama (1), No. 3 Oregon (5) and fourth-ranked Oklahoma (2) also getting votes for the top spot.
Texas A&M was the biggest climber in the latest poll. The Aggies were 21st in the preseason poll but land at ninth this week. Texas A&M's 52-28 win over South Carolina last Thursday pushed South Carolina to the Aggies' old spot in the poll (21).
Auburn (fifth), Georgia, Michigan State and Ohio State are ahead of Texas A&M. Ohio State dropped from No. 5. The Buckeyes beat Navy 34-17 and host Virginia Tech in a primetime game at Ohio Stadium this week.
