TOWSON (1-0, 0-0 Colonial Athletic Association) vs. No. 20 VILLANOVA (0-1, 0-0 CAA)
Time: 7 p.m.
Where: Johnny Unitas Stadium
Radio: WNST-1570 AM
Series: Villanova leads, 5-2
What's at stake: Fresh off a 42-3 rout of Morgan State in its season opener, Towson looks for its second straight win in its conference opener against Villanova. The Tigers have struggled with the Wildcats, who won the Football Championship Subdivision title in 2009. Last year, Towson dropped a 43-7 game at Villanova on the day the Wildcats celebrated their national championship. Towson is just 1-6 in Colonial Athletic Association openers. The Wildcats fell to Temple, 42-7, in their season opener last Saturday.
Key matchup: Towson wide receiver Tom Ryan caught three passes for 55 yards against Morgan State, and the junior has emerged as one of the Tigers' most reliable pass-catchers. Ryan could be matched up Saturday with Villanova's Craig James. The sophomore cornerback had a team-high 10 tackles in his first career start last weekend against Temple, including seven solo stops.
Players to watch: Quarterback Grant Enders (Old Mill) had a strong Tigers debut last week, going 15-for-19 for 197 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 46 yards and another score. The sophomore transfer from Lackawanna Junior College was named the CAA's Offensive Player of the Week. For Villanova, true freshman Dillon Lucas was impressive against the Owls last week, starting at middle linebacker and making nine tackles.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
