Towson football seeks first CAA victory of season Saturday against FCS power Richmond

Richmond (3-2, 1-1 Colonial Athletic Association) @ Towson (2-3, 0-2)

When: Saturday, 4 p.m.

Site: Johnny Unitas Stadium

TV: Fox College Sports Pacific

Radio: 1300 AM, TowsonTigers.com

Series: Richmond leads 6-4

What’s at stake: Towson is one of four winless teams in the Colonial Athletic Association, having lost two straight. The Tigers are decided underdogs against Richmond, ranked 13th in both Football Championship Subdivision polls — and they’re still without the injured quarterback (Morgan Mahalak) and running back (Shane Simpson) who started the season. Result: Towson has scored seven touchdowns in five games.

Key matchup: It has been an erratic year for Ryan Stover, the Tigers’ redshirt freshman quarterback who was thrust into the breach early on. Has he matured enough to dissect a Richmond defense that allows 32 points a game?

Player to watch: Kyle Lauletta, Richmond’s celebrated senior quarterback who has passed for more than 300 yards in each game this year and who has thrown for 62 career touchdowns, a school record.
