Bowie State scored the first 14 points but allowed 18 fourth-quarter points to fall to visiting Chowan, 31-21, on Saturday.
Kendall Jefferson had two 1-yard touchdown runs to jump out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter, but the Hawks (3-3) answered with a 2-yard touchdown run by DaSean Martin in the second quarter and 3-yard score in the third to cut the deficit to 14-13.
The Bulldogs (2-4) answered quickly with a 57-yard touchdown pass from Jared Johnston to Nyme Manns to make it 21-13, but Bowie State failed to stop Chowan in the fourth quarter. A 3-yard touchdown pass to Robert Holland and a two-point conversion tied the game early in the fourth quarter, and an 18-yard touchdown catch by Martin handed the Hawks the lead for good. A 32-yard field goal by Alex Noboa gave Chowan a 10-point lead with 2:01 left.
Salisbury 34, Buffalo State 6: The Sea Gulls (3-2) ran for 404 yards and scored 34 unanswered points to beat the visiting Bengals.
Buffalo State (2-4) scored first on a 65-yard drive but gained just 174 yards the rest of the game. Salisbury's Joey Jones ran for 121 yards on 19 carries, and Jerome Johnson finished with 110 yards on only six carries.
Salisbury's Steven Gamble had two interceptions of Casey Kacz, including one deep in Sea Gulls territory that led to a 11-play, 85-yard drive ending with a touchdown run by Tyler West.
Utica 44, Frostburg State 27: The visiting Pioneers (3-2) scored 19 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to beat the Bobcats (1-4). Utica's Jake Larson finished with five rushing touchdowns, and Frostburg's Mike Fourth scored four touchdowns on the ground.
Utica quarterback Connor Butkiewicz went 31-for-36 for 431 yards and two touchdown passes, including a 68-yarder for the first score of the game. Frostburg (1-4) answered with 2- and 1-yard touchdown runs by Fourth to take a 14-6 lead.
