Series: Norfolk State leads 14-10
What's at stake: After a season that began with a lot of promise in a 3-2 start, the Bears are now just trying to snap a four-game losing streak and end the season with a couple of victories. Having taken on four of the top five teams in the MEAC in four consecutive weeks, the Bears could finally be getting a break in lowly Norfolk. The Spartans are coming off their first MEAC win of the season, a 33-21 victory over Savannah State, which ended their seven-game losing streak. And after tasting their first win in a long time and playing on Senior Day, the Spartans will come out even harder to keep Morgan State's losing streak intact.
Key matchup: While the Spartans are near the bottom of the MEAC standings, they can claim to be the No. 1 team for sacks in the conference. Through 10 games, Norfolk State has taken down opposing quarterbacks 28 times. The problem for Morgan State is that the offensive line is eighth in the MEAC in protecting the QB, having given up 19 sacks thus far. If the Bears want to snap the losing streak, holding off the Spartan rush will go a long way in making that happen.
Player to watch: While NSU might have the best sacking team in the MEAC, the Bears have the most prolific defensive end in the conference. Chris Robinson (Dunbar) leads the way with seven sacks and 9.5 TFL. Norfolk State turns the ball over a lot, enough to rank 10th in the MEAC with a -1.50 TO margin. If Robinson can get to the Spartan quarterback, even if he forces him into a bad throw, he has a pretty good chance to create a turnover. If he does, he can give his team a much needed spark.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
