What's at stake: The Bears opened their season with a thud last Saturday, dropping a 42-3 game at Towson. Morgan's schedule gives it no breaks this weekend with a trip to Bowling Green, a Football Bowl Subdivision member from the Mid-American Conference. The Falcons opened their season with a 32-15 win over Idaho. Morgan has a 1-2 record against MAC opponents, with one win over Buffalo and losses to the Bulls and Akron.
Key matchup: Bears senior Jourdan Brooks was limited to just 48 yards on 15 carries against Towson for 3.2 yards per carry. The former Rutgers running back and Morgan's offensive line will have to step up their game against the Falcons' stout defensive line, which is led by junior defensive tackle Chris Jones. Jones was named the MAC East Division Defensive Player of the Week after recording three tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble against Idaho.
Players to watch: Morgan State wide-out Tyrone Hendrix leads the Football Championship Subdivision in all-purpose yards with 140. The junior from Tarpon Springs, Fla., had an 85-yard kickoff return to open last Saturday's game against Towson. He ranked No. 2 in the MEAC in average kickoff return yards (23.1 yards) last season. For Bowling Green, true freshman Anthon Samuel rushed for 141 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries against Idaho. The running back from Opa Locka, Fla., was the first Falcons freshman to rush for more than 100 yards in his first career start since quarterback Freddie Barnes against Wisconsin in 2006.
