Not every athlete feels like going home and sulking after a tough loss. Some need a good distraction to take their mind off the disappointment.
The Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa, Kris Versteeg, Nick Leddy, Corey Crawford and Brandon Bollig hung out Sunday at The Underground after losing to the Los Angeles Kings at the United Center in game 7 of the Western Conference Final. The loss eliminated the Blackhawks from the playoffs. The Underground -- you might remember -- is where the team celebrated their 2009-2010 Stanley Cup title.
On Saturday, Crawford dined at the newly opened Packing House in the West Town neighborhood.
NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and Chicago native Michael Wilbon (“Pardon the Interruption”) were on hand for Sunday's Blackhawks game at the United Center and dined at Chicago Cut Steakhouse afterward. According to Chicago Cut managing partner David Flom, Barkley bought the entire restaurant a round of drinks to cheer them up and shouted "You had a great season -- celebrate that you went as far as you did."
Blackhawks legend Denis Savard and Los Angeles Kings legend Wayne Gretzky dined together May 21 at Chicago Cut after game 2 of the series.
The Bears' Brandon Marshall attended Sunday's game and watched game 6 Friday with his teammates, including Alshon Jeffery, at Harry Caray's 7th Inning Stretch, where Marshall is an investor. Marshall had dinner May 22 at Municipal Bar + Dining Co.
The Fire's Mike Magee – who hung out May 23 at Cuvee – also was in the crowd for Sunday's Blackhawks game at the United Center along with the Los Angeles Galaxy’s Robbie Keane. Keane hung out at The Underground after the game.
