Severna Park took care of business at home with a convincing 10-0 win over North Point in a 4A East regional quarterfinal softball game Monday.
Pitcher Clare Hofstedt was the key to the victory, facing 21 batters and giving up just one hit in five innings. Hofstedt also chipped in a home run in a 10-run third inning for the No. 3 Falcons (16-3).
No. 12 Glen Burnie 3, South River 2: The Seahawks were outmatched by the host Gophers (14-4) in a 4A East quarterfinal. South River led 3-0 after three innings, scoring three runs on three hits. Glen Burnie's Caitlyn Kirby, Jessica Robinson, and Jordan Hogan each had a hit in the victory.
Eastern Tech 8, Aberdeen 0: The host Mavericks scored six runs in the fifth and sixth innings to overpower the Eagles in 3A North quarterfinal action. Alexis Peay had a triple and three RBIs in the victory. Pitcher Jordan Cargile had seven strikeouts.
Fallston 20, Havre De Grace 4: A 12-1 halftime lead for the host Cougars proved too much for the Warriors to come back from in a 2A-1A South quarterfinal game Monday. Sam Nolan led Fallston with a game-high five goals. Courtney Laubach also chipped in two goals in the victory.
No. 4 North Harford 6, C. Milton Wright 0: A four-run third inning helped propel the host Hawks (20-2) to a shutout victory over the Mustangs (12-8) in the 3A North quarterfinals. Winning pitcher Kevin Mooney (8-0) allowed just two hits in the win. Brady Maguire was 2-for-2 and scored two runs for North Harford. The Hawks host Eastern Tech in the 3A North Semis on Wednesday at 4:30.
No. 5 Old Mill 9, South River 1: Nine unanswered runs for the host Patriots (19-3) sealed the deal in a victory over the Seahawks in a 4A East quarterfinal game. A five-run fourth inning had Old Mill up 7-0 heading into the fifth inning. The Patriots out-hit the Seahawks 11-4 in the win.
Patterson Mill 12, Owings Mills 6: A four-goal effort from Josh Wilson helped the visiting Huskies come out on top against the host Golden Eagles in 2A-1A North quarterfinal action. Owings Mill responded to an 8-0 halftime deficit by outscoring Patterson Mill 6-4 in the second half, but the effort fell short.
