Towson girls volleyball coach Emily Berman stepping down after reaching state tourney again

For The Baltimore Sun

Towson High girls volleyball coach Emily Berman announced to her team Thursday that she is stepping down effective immediately.

Berman has the rare distinction of winning a state championship as both a player, in 2001 at Towson, and as a coach, in 2010 with the Generals.

She leaves the school with a career record of 168-28, including seven trips to the state tournament in a 10-year career.

This year's team, ranked No. 8, fell to No. 4 Westminster in the Class 3A state semifinals Tuesday night in College Park.
